British Food Fortnight - get involved!
We are six days into British Food Fortnight – a celebration of our country’s produce that aims at inspiring people to source their ingredients from our shores.
Restaurants, pubs and other eateries are being encouraged to put British food on the menu, and similarly supermarkets are to increase their stocks and promotion of home grown and reared foodstuffs.
So, we at townfood are going all British as well and will cook as many seasonal dishes as possible over the fortnight.
The story so far:
We kicked off on day two with a Sunday roast with a twist: pork stuffed with ginger, garlic and paprika (with some roasted beetroot that had been pulled from the ground that morning).
Monday called for some comfort food so we whipped up a ratatouille with seasonal aubergines and courgettes and had this with baked eggs.
The beetroot that we had on Sunday was so tasty that we craved more. A light and cleansing beetroot carpaccio with rocket and goat’s cheese made a quick and easy mid-week starter.
Look out for more seasonal recipes over the next ten days and let us know what British feasts you’ve created.
